You have your own personal deck (like a deck builder)
You can win tricks, or rounds, or certain situations/offers/whatever. The specific gameplay does not matter, the gimmick I’m about to explain does.
Cards have a cost: how much you need to pay and the circumstances in which you may play it. If you can pay that cost, then great, do it and play the card. You’ll get it back in your deck at the end.
But … you can also play a card you can’t pay for. You get its power, but now the card is burned and permanently removed from your deck. You have forever lost that valuable card because you used it without paying.
