Open The Gates

A board game idea that was originally meant for my educational online store, but ended up not being educational at all so it did not fit :p

Cut out “castle walls”. Just a strip of rectangle, but with doors cut out from below.

Just one cut up from center, then horizontal, and pre-fold.

Place a few walls after one another. That’s your random “castle” or “playing board”.

Players place a pawn in front of the first one and try to pass. There’s some challenge or puzzle that decides what happens—need to figure this out.

  • If both doors are open, you can continue to the next wall
  • Otherwise, you might have managed to get a single door open, but you can’t pass through yet (to the next castle wall)

This continues until you’re at the end and win.

Could be competitive, could be cooperative. You select your Knights at the same time and can work together to open gates? Maybe each wall has multiple doors and you can choose which one you’ll try to open?
