A game about stopping a rampaging monster from destroying your pretty little village/city.
Can be cooperative (everyone against the monster(s)) or competitive (one or two players are the rampaging monsters, the other villagers).
This is the general idea.
Villagers
- The villagers are building their village with tiles.
- They do so to …
- Get resources => these are needed to build more buildings, feed the village, etcetera
- Lead the monster astray => simple tiles/walls/traps that force it to move in a certain direction.
- Provide extra health/buffer
Monster
- The monster walks around from tile to tile.
- When playing cooperatively, the monster follows a simple ruleset.
- It follows the arrows on the tiles.
- If there are multiple paths, it picks the one that leads to the highest/juiciest reward.
- OR: It must be rotated first to follow a certain arrow? (So if there are multiple, it just follows the arrow with which it aligns. If there’s no matching arrow, it rotates or does something special.)
- Anything the monster touches is destroyed.
- When playing competitively, some of the same rules apply, but more of it is up to the choice of the players playing it.
- Multiple arrows? You pick one.
- Special actions? You pick when/how to use them.
Other Elements
The game could include a bunch of monster tableaus with special powers or stats (different health, different movement, etcetera)
Objective
The game ends when …
- The monster dies or is shut out. (Lost their health, or left the village with no entrance that isn’t walled-off.) => VILLAGERS win.
- The whole village is destroyed or they can’t feed themselves anymore. (No meaningful tiles still alive, or less food than there are people.)
