Kingdom of Frogs

The vision is clear.

  • The board is a nice lake or river, beautiful, clear water, eye-catching.
  • There are water lilies in the water.
  • And players command frogs standing on those lilies, hopping around.

What are the actual game rules? There’s one key rule, at least.

The water current constantly moves the water lilies towards the edge.

As such, players need to constantly balance two things,

  • Getting their frogs to the place they need (which gives them what they want/scores them the most points) and building little frog palaces there.
  • But also GETTING OUT AGAIN before that lily has drifted off too much and is destroyed.

Other fun rules could be,

  • Frogs can carry other frogs on their back. This way you can move multiple frogs at once, but you can’t hop as far as usual.
  • You can “own” a lily, refusing passage to anyone else and scoring a lot of points from it. But you will completely lose it when it goes off the edge/out of the water.
