Coastyq

Name alternatives: Coasty-q, Coastyqueue, etc

Basically, it’s Idle Rollercoaster Tycoon. But the park has already been built for you, to simplify it for the player and me (the developer).

It’s a game about managing queues.

  • The map spawns some random queues ending at random attractions. (There are more, and longer, and different types, blabla as you upgrade.)
  • All you can do is move people around.
    • Once someone is in a queue, and they accept that, they’ll just shuffle along until they enter that attraction.
    • Every person served gives you money.
    • As such, you want to keep all queues moving at their optimal speed.
    • For example, we’d have a rule like “if person wants to go to attraction Y, but queue is already full, they immediately leave and earn no more money”, so you want to keep making queues exactly long enough that everyone will fit inside!
  • We can make people persistent; so once they’ve done an attraction, they come out the other end. This ties well into the random generation, because now you can change your strategy depending on how the paths happen to go.
  • The attractions can just be icons. (And a large part of the game: they work differently, you can upgrade them, etcetera.)
    • It basically becomes a kind of “Mini Metro” for Theme Parks, right?

@IDEA: Yellow Brick Road. Could be combined with Coastyq. The idea is simply that anything below your mouse cursor is turned into a path (and you can obviously upgrade how much path you have, how quickly it happens, etcetera). And you must draw the paths such that people can walk to/find their destination.
