The Unwanted Escort

A game about indirectly guiding someone else.

The point is not to move your own character directly, but help guide and nudge some other character in the right direction.

On single player, you guide a computer-controlled character. (The princess. But that’s mostly meant as a metaphor, it doesn’t need to be a literal princess.)

On multiplayer, players are paired up. (Though still in two teams? So there’s some cooperation, instead of just playing alongside each other without interacting?)

You can move. You pick up anything you walk over. If you were already holding something, you drop it.

Most things in the world automatically move or change. This way you can time when you swap objects to get the full effect.

  • Certain objects make the princess walk towards it.
  • Others make the princess walk in the opposite direction.
  • Some will make her stop walking, others will make her walk faster.

Objective? Simply get the princess at some target destination. This is marked clearly with arrows, a flag, shining light, etcetera. It’s on the same screen. It should feel like “huh I can get the princess there easily” … and then it’s not so easy.

Don’t want any connotations with sex workers though. Rename to something like “The Unwanted Guide” or “The Unwanted Bodyguard” or “The Unwanted Envoy”
