Atop The Barricades

Online multiplayer game.

The map generates a random “network” high in the air (like standing on castle walls or being in a rollercoaster).

  • This can be a single sort-of-circle.
  • Or we combine multiple of them, and there are switches along the route to decide where you want to go.

You are inside a cart that automatically moves over the track.

  • All you can do is turn left/right (arrow left / arrow right) to aim your weapon.
  • And then press a button to shoot it.
  • (And another button changes the switch so you can decide where to go. If not near a switch, that button changes your movement direction to reverse?)

You work together to fight monsters or whatever coming from the ground and the sky. Or you actually fight other players.

What’s The Vision?

I just think it’s a really cool experience to be inside a moving cart, first person perspective, going over these changing/randomly generated tracks. It’s very unique gameplay, automatically makes aiming and stuff a challenge, while making controls much simpler than usual such games.

The unique part is being stuck to that random track, high in the sky. It just feels really cool to be able to go through this big jungle or high up across the desert. You’re not fully in control of where you move, but you can change direction, memorize where tracks lead, do something better the next time you pass by that spot.

  • If we theme this in a FAMILY FRIENDLY way, like actually taking a “rollercoaster” or going “over the chinese wall” or something, it can actually work for the webshop and with bright colors.
  • It could also be a ONE BUTTON GAME. You just look at these tracks from afar. Multiple people control the same cart (rotate aim left, rotate aim right, switch tracks, fire).

Expansions

We can obviously add stuff to pick up, upgrading your weapon and aim and cart speed and everything.

When you kill something below, its “rewards” are placed on the track nearest to it? Some other rule that asks you to be strategic about it?
