An underwater search for treasure. A shared oxygen supply. A traitor. (Cooperative, but with a traitor.)
What’s the traitor mechanic?
- At the start of the game, all players get a message on their phone.
- The good guys get a message like “You are good.”
- The traitor gets a message “You are the traitor. The required amount of treasure is X.”
- (Additionally, people might get more secret objectives. If the game is very quick, you can play multiple rounds, and the player with the most points wins.)
What’s the idea?
You are all part of a diving crew.
You are supposed to collect as much treasure as possible, but … you have a shared oxygen supply!
All players draw from the same supply, and different actions (such as going deeper or carrying a heavier load) take more oxygen.
(Maybe there are even more shared supplies, but oxygen seems a good start.)
When does the game end?
When the oxygen runs out, the game immediately ends and all players still underwater die.
Otherwise, one player has a button to close the submarine.
- This shuts out any remaining players, who will die immediately and lose their treasures.
- If the traitor was among those shut out, the good guys automatically win (too OP?)
- The game immediately ends.
How do you win?
You collect treasure. If the final treasure exceeds the secret treasure amount (that the traitor knows), you win.
Alternatively, if you manage to kill the traitor, you win. However, every dead player (excluding the traitor) will impose a severe penalty on the treasure amount.
Controls
Every player gets their own character. They can swim around in all directions (standard arrow like the other Peerful games).
When near something, they can grab it (with a dynamic button on their phone).
Once in their bag, they can also drop anything (with a dynamic button)
Lastly, there are special actions. Are these a permanent button? Are these player-specific? How??
IDEA: Sonar/a vague instrument. It starts pulsating whenever you’re near something special (which is always hidden). You just need to look at it and remember where you saw pulses to unravel the puzzle?
What’s the obstacle/fun/problem?
Obviously, the traitor will hinder you as much as possible. They want to do this as subtle as possible, whilst the rest are keeping their eyes out for finding the traitor.
Many actions take more oxygen. If you go farther away, if you have more treasure (or a heavier kind of treasure), if you use tools to break/explode/fight.
Explode? Yes, the levels are randomly generated. Sometimes you’ll need to break something to get through.
Fight? YES! There is sea life. Some of it is harmless, some if it might even be beneficial (such as a fish you can grab to create explosions!! That’s how you get the power!), but some are very dangerous and will attack you or your supplies.
(Fighting these off will take oxygen. However, if you don’t fight, you might die or lose a lot of treasure.)
