Somehow, simple online multiplayer games with friends have made a massive resurgence lately. And for some reason they’re called “Friendslop”, which is a stupid term, but I’ll use it for this collection of ideas.
The typical thing is to just connect two people to the same thing (vehicle/rolling log/egg/etc). What else can you do with that?
- Maybe combine with sports? Your entire team is connected by chains or whatever, effectively moving as one person?
- Unused vehicles, like planes? Then maybe (flock/herd of) birds/animals makes more sense.
- Maybe one player dives, and the other has to keep the oxygen levels appropriate?
- Fishing together?
- Mining together?
- A game about walking dogs? About “one throws the stick, the other controls the dog and must catch it before it lands”? => One player is the dog owner, the other is the dog leashed to him?
Maybe something inspired by this game?
- Either steering a boat through waters together.
- Maybe steering a hot air balloon?
- Or that one screenshot with the alien UFO trying to abduct you => we could make a silly fun local multiplayer game about some people being aliens, others being cows, and trying to NOT get abducted.
Windowwashy
Multiple players all hold a different corner of the same cloth.
You simply have to climb up a skyscraper (2D side-view) + move around to clean the whole thing as quickly as possible.
- This means being efficient with movement and position.
- It also means moving around obstacles (such as something that splits the building and you both need to get to the same side)
- Perhaps even re-stitching the cloth, or growing it, or preventing birds from flying into the window and make it dirty again.
There’s a “maximum stretch/area” of the cloth beyond which it will break/you can’t move further.
The cloth is just made of lots of elastically connected points in a grid, like actual soft physics does (but simplified)
