A sports game where players are just balls rolling around.
So you can roll forward/backward, and rotate left/right, which means your movement keys are enough to get anywhere and rotate however you need.
Hitting the ball is completely realistic, just use the physics engine.
And there are other elements of the map that can help you jump or get into the air.
Maybe the edges of the map are ramps that go up, so you can build momentum and stuff.
@IDEA: All walls are ramps, the goals are cut out of those => or they’re just REALLY HIGH (at the top of those ramps/american-football-pole-style)
@IDEA: There are powerups across the map (mostly high in the air). If you grab one, it gives you a jump => you can even use these jumps while already in the air. (So if you collect a lot of jumps, you can do weird shit in the air)
- By pointing in a direction while pressing jump, you can dash/jump into that direction.
- While in the air, this is the ONLY way you can move (by dash-jumping; regular steering does nothing)
- BASICALLY, it works really well if the air is optional but really beneficial (if you can traverse it in a cool way)
Also, tackling is just a fun part we can put into a sport like this easily.

You’re just a ball rolling downhill, or a sled, or whatever. The twist: it’s not about who arrives at the bottom first or whatever.
It’s about playing a sport while doing it.
Example:
- You have to hit targets along the way.
- You have to keep up a secondary object (prevent it from falling on the floor)
- You can collect points, pass by nets,
- Etcetera.
Related Idea: A Ball’s Life
A sports game where … ONE PLAYER IS THE BALL!
After every goal, this changes. (So that the player who is the ball actually has a team they’re attached to, and they don’t have to do it all the time.)
Obviously, the ball has some crucial power they can use to influence the game and make it more fun/controlled/varied.
